We were excited to be recording once again at Scott's ranch. It's still our favorite place to record. Our new drummer, Jeff Howe definitely added the solid driving rhythm the new songs needed. We laid down all of the basic tracks on the first day. Then Zach spent two days adding vocals, guitar textures, leads, etc. Jeff added percussion accents and Erica added some bowed electric bass. Some old friends made it out to the studio to contribute to the cd. Mario Lalli (from Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man and Desert Sessions) laid down some amazing guitar on three of the songs and did a cool spoken word piece on another. Capt. Sean Wheeler (Throw Rag, Sun Trash and Charley Horse) belted out some incredible backing vocals. Joe Dillon (from Hot Beat Pussy Fiend) did a little bit of everything - from Stooges style guitar, backing vocals and some cool lap steel. Last, but not least, we were extremely pleased that Scott Reeder (producer and bass monster for Kyuss, The Obsessed, Goatsnake) laid down some blazing bass solos on two of the songs. Heavier, thicker and faster songs than on our last cd "Sweet Sludge". "Full On Dunes" offers nine new energetic tunes that blend our desert punk and heavy rock roots. As usual, every song features Zach's forever devotion to the riff. Besides the work and fun of recording, it was great to have everyone there - a reunion of sorts, hanging out, reminiscing and catching up on things. An extremely talented group of friends, and we thank them all once again for taking time out of their own schedules to be a part of this cd. Give it a listen. We hope you dig it. Thanks a lot.
